Maroon & Gold Posts Two Seventh Place Finishes on Day One of Women’s Big Tens

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Minnesota women's swim and dive program opened the Big Ten Championships with two seventh-place finishes.
The night began with the 200 medley relay, spearheaded by Ava Yablonski with a 50-yard split of 23.80. Ava Goodno followed up with a 27.25 split before Morgan Thomas also hit the 23.80 mark. Hannah Cornish anchored the relay with a split of 22.48, securing the Gophers their seventh-place finish with a total time of 1:37.33.
The 800 freestyle relay team also touched seventh with a NCAA 'B' cut time of 7:05.28. Anja Kaljevic kicked off the event for Minnesota with a 200-yard split of 1:46.10, followed by Mina Kaljevic's 1:46.54 mark. Katie McCarthy then recorded a split of 1:46.32, which was matched by anchor Livi Wanner.
With 92 points on the day, Minnesota sits in sixth place heading into the second day of the Big Ten Championships. The University of Michigan sits at first place with 128 points, holding a 20-point lead over Indiana at second place.
Thursday's schedule includes preliminary and finals for the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 200 free relay, and 1 meter dive.
