Gophers Finish Strong on Day Two of 2025 Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The University of Minnesota swimming and diving programs wrapped up day two of competition Friday night at the 2025 Minnesota Invite, collecting six top three finishes throughout the evening finals session.
The Gophers kicked things off with a second place finish in the women's 200 medley relay as the team of Ava Yablonski, Ava Goodno, Morgan Thomas, and Livi Wanner posted a time of 1:38.10.
Minnesota swam to their fastest time of the season on the men's side of the 200 medley relay as the quartet of Davide Harabagiu, Jack Hackler, Jacob Johnson, and Connor Groya finished in third with a time of 1:25.97.
After already hitting the NCAA qualifying mark during the prelims of the men's 100 fly with a time of 45.69, Jacob Johnson swam to a third place finish in the 'A' finals with a time of 45.98. Thomas and Ava Yablonski took the seventh and eight place finishes on the women's side.
Grace Drabot improved upon her preliminary time in the women's 400 IM by 0.33 seconds, collecting a 4:14.54 to take fourth place overall in the event. Joe Polyak took fifth in the men's 'A' finals with a time of 3:52.42.
Anja Kaljevic and Daniel Eichel each took sixth place in their respective 'A' finals for the 200 free. Kaljevic improved upon her prelim time by a full second, tallying a final time of 1:46.34, and Eichel improving by 0.1 seconds with a time of 1:36.66.
Georgia Kahler found herself in a tie for 5th in the women's 100 breaststroke after posting a time of 1:01.91. Emma Fellman and Goodno closed out the 'A' final with seventh and eighth place finishes.
Yablonski beat her season best in the 100 back by 0.01 seconds, taking third place in the event with a time of 52.77. Harabagiu took fourth in the men's race, posting a time of 47.21.
A lineup of Daniel Eichel, Jayden Edmonson, Tyler Hansen, and Luke Brennan took home the silver in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:29.62 to end the swimming competitions for the night. Mina Kaljevic, Anja Kaljevic, Katie McCarthy, and Jade Roghair finished with a time of 7:11.23 for third place on the women's side.
Over in the diving well, Drew Bennett continued his dominance by picking up the first place finish in the men's 1-meter competition with a score of 359.70. Elna Widerstrom and Vivi Del Angel picked up the one-two finish in the women's 3-meter, tallying scores of 374.65 and 325.90 respectively.
Minnesota returns to the water for the final day of competition tomorrow morning. Lineup of events for day three include the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay, and the season premieres of the 1650 free and platform diving. Preliminary action is currently set to kick off at 10:00 AM.
