Gopher Duo Awarded HCA National Monthly Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Graduate forward Abbey Murphy and sophomore goaltender Hannah Clark of the No. 2-ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team have been named Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) National Players of the Month for September–October. Murphy earned Co-National Forward of the Month honors, while Clark was recognized as the National Goaltender of the Month.
This marks Clark's second major monthly honor of the week after being named WCHA Goaltender of the Month on Wednesday, while Murphy collects her first monthly award for October following her recognition as WCHA Forward of the Month for September.
Murphy earned her second career HCA National Monthly honor after recording 24 points (15g-9a) through Minnesota's first two months of play. The Evergreen Park, Ill., native tallied eight multi-point games, highlighted by a five-point effort (3g-2a) against Boston College on Sept. 26 and a hat trick versus then-No. 13 Boston University. Murphy led the NCAA in scoring during the stretch and was named WCHA Forward of the Week twice (Sept. 26, Oct. 6).
Clark earned her first career HCA National Monthly honor following an outstanding start to the 2025-26 campaign. The Oshawa, Ont., native posted a .955 save percentage, 1.32 goals-against average, and an 8-1-0 record with two shutouts in September and October. She opened October with a 24-save shutout against then-No. 13 Boston University on Oct. 3, followed by another 24-save clean sheet in a 4-0 win over No. 4/5 Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 24. Clark capped the month with a 40-save performance in Minnesota's 5-1 victory at No. 1 Wisconsin on Oct. 31, helping the Gophers secure their first win in Madison since 2021. Clark also earned two WCHA Goaltender of the Week awards and was named WCHA Goaltender of the Month on Nov. 5.
The duo are the first Gopher student-athletes to earn HCA monthly honors since Dec. 2024, when forward Murphy took home Player of the Month. Clark is the first Gopher goaltender to win the award since Dec. 2022, when goaltender Skylar Vetter was named Goaltender of the Month.
