How It Happened
SET 1 | Indiana started off hot, scoring seven of the first 11 to take an early lead. Minnesota responded, scoring six of the next seven to go up 10-8. Kinney had three kills while Georgia Lee posted an ace in the spurt. IU would score to get it to 10-9 before two more kills from Kinney and one from Jordan Taylor made it 13-9, Minnesota. The Gophers would take a 15-12 lead into the media break after a kill from Gilk and an ace from Kinney. Another Gilk kill made it 16-12 before IU scored three of the next four to make it 17-15. The Gophers then bounced back with three of the next four points, getting kills from Hanson and Myers, to go up 20-16 and force an IU timeout. A Hanson kill on a BIC after that put Minnesota up 21-16 and IU called timeout No. 2. The Gophers would close out the set with a 25-19 win. The Gophers hit .567 for the set with 18 kills and three aces. Kinney led the team with seven kills on .636.

SET 2 | IU went up early again in set two, scoring six of the first 10. The Gophers answered with five of the next seven, getting kills from Kinney, Hanson and Gilk to go up 9-8. With the two teams tied up 10-10, the Gophers went on a 5-1 run, getting two aces and a block from Gilk and a kill from Swenson to go up 15-11 into the media timeout. The Hoosiers grabbed three of the next four out of the break to cut the lead to just two at 16-14, forcing a Minnesota timeout. After the timeout, the Gophers got a pair of kills from Kinney and an ace from Swenson to go up 19-15, leading to IU's first timeout of the set. Swenson would go on to put down three more aces in-a-row to put the Gophers up 22-15. Minnesota would close out set two, 25-19.

SET 3 | The Hoosiers again started hot in frame three, tallying eight of the first 12 points before coach Cook called timeout. IU did not slow down after the break, scoring four of the next five to take a match-high seven-point lead at 12-5. The Gophers would fight back, getting the IU lead to as few as three at 16-13 after an 8-4 run. The Hoosiers scored the next two off a block and a kill to go up 18-13, forcing Minnesota timeout No. 2 of the set. IU scored six of the next seven after the break to go up 24-14 before a 4-0 Gophers run forced a timeout from the home team. IU would close it out, 25-18.
