McCauley Finishes Fourth as Gophers Conclude Route 66 Invitational

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished sixth after three rounds at the Route 66 Invitational Honoring Dale McNamara. The Golden Gophers posted a final-round team score of 292 to finish at 293ā293ā292ā878 (+26) through 54 holes from Cedar Ridge Country Club.
"I am happy with how the team finished," said head coach Matt Higgins. "It's a good tournament anytime you can finish in the top half of the field. Isabella and Mariana continued their strong play this week. They've been strong and consistent all fall."Ā
Senior Isabella McCauley led the way for Minnesota with a stellar final round of 67 (-4). She finished the tournament at 73ā70ā67ā210 (-3) to place tied for fourth individually. McCauley carded six birdies in her third round, five on the front nine, and closed her day with a birdie on the par-five 14th and steady pars down the stretch.
Arkansas was crowned champion with a score of 841(-11).
Notable:
Junior Mariana Mesones capped off a strong week with an even-par 71 in the final round, finishing tied for eighth at 71ā72ā71ā214 (+1). Mesones recorded two birdies in round three to secure her third top-10 finish of the season.
Sophomore Reese McCauley tied for 48th at 74ā75ā77ā226 (+13). She grabbed two birdies to close out the event.Ā
Senior Olivia Deakins finished in 61st place after rounds of 75ā77ā77ā229 (+16). Freshman Lauryn Finley placed 72nd, posting scores of 79ā76ā80ā235 (+22).Ā
Competing as an individual, Madison Le tied for 70th at 82ā76ā75ā233 (+20). Le recorded two birdies in her closing round to post her best round of the tournament.
