Graduate Classic Awaits Minnesota's Track Team

The 'U' will compete in Lincoln, Neb., against the Cornhuskers and Oregon Ducks.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota track and field program is scheduled to compete at the Graduate Classic, in Lincoln, Neb. from Jan. 17-18. The indoor competition will be run at the Bob Devaney Sports Center with the likes of Oregon joining the Cornhuskers and Gophers.
ABOUT THE GRADUATE CLASSIC
For the Gophers, the third meet of the season begins at 2 p.m. CT with the women's 400m with the women's weight throw starting at 2:45 p.m. CT. Friday's schedule will wrap up at about 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, for Minnesota, action begins at 11:20 a.m. with the women's 60m hurdles prelims with the conclusion of the meet scheduled for about 5:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be streamed via Huskers.com and live results can be found on DeltaTiming.com.
LAST TIME OUT
The Minnesota Golden Gophers saw five different program top 10 performances go down at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational in Houston, Texas, on Jan. 10. Held at Yeoman Fieldhouse, the Gophers also won a total of six events with Anthonett Nabwe and Alliyah McNeil each claiming two. For a full recap on the first indoor meet of 2025, click here.
NABWE HONORED BY BIG TEN, AGAIN
University of Minnesota women's track and field redshirt sophomore Anthonett Nabwe was once again named the Big Ten's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Jan. 15. Nabwe has earned the weekly distinction twice this indoor season for her performances in the shot put and weight throw. Nabwe won the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational shot put and weight throw in Houston last weekend. The Liberian national set an indoor lifetime best and set the No. 4 shot put mark in school history (17.03m | 55-10 1/2) to claim the win. She also won the women's weight throw in Houston with a toss of 20.89m (68-6 1/2).
SCOTT WINS USATF U20 EVENT
University of Minnesota true freshman Sam Scott crossed the finish line first at the 2025 USATF U20 Cross Country Championships in Lubbock, Texas, on Jan. 11. The victory for the Minneapolis, Minn., native came on a day where his college teammate Nolan Sutter finished as the runner up and on the women's side Caitlyn Osanai finished third overall. EARLY SEASON RANKINGS
Although the USTFCCCA does not release its first team rankings until Jan. 28, the Gophers do have 12 individual marks and/or times that sit inside the top 25 nationally on TFRRS.org. Minnesota's top ranked individual after Nabwe's No. 1 ranking in the weight throw is Alliyah McNeil in the women's high jump (No. 7, 1.80m | 5-10 3/4). McNeil, who is also No. 14 nationally in the long jump (6.25m | 20-6 1/4), will only compete in the high jump at the Graduate Classic in Lincoln.

The Maroon and Gold will return home to host the Jack Johnson Classic on January 24-25 at the University Fieldhouse.
