Scott Wins USATF U20 XC Championships

The event was contested in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday, Jan. 11.
MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota true freshman Sam Scott crossed the finish line first at the 2025 USATF U20 Cross Country Championships in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday afternoon. The victory for the Minneapolis, Minn., native came on a day where his college teammate Nolan Sutter finished as the runner up and on the women's side Caitlyn Osanai finished third overall.
Scott's time of 25:16.7 claimed the championship that was contested on the Chaparral Ridge Cross Country Course, with the men running on an 8K course. Sutter crossed the finish line 25:38.89, earning a runner-up finish on the windy course in Texas where the temperatures were around 60 degrees (Fahrenheit).
In the women's race it was Caitlyn Osanai's 21:58.50 that earned her a third-place finish on Saturday. Osanai, a Robbinsdale Armstrong graduate and native of Plymouth, Minn., also ended her redshirt season with a personal best 6K time.
Scott, Sutter and Osanai extend Minnesota's top 10 finishes in the USATF U20 event to three years. In 2024 Aidan Jones finished fourth, and in 2023 both Ali Weimer (ninth) and Shane Griepentrog (10th) finished inside the top 10.
