Minnesota Drops Game One to Indiana

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Minnesota Golden Gophers fell to the Indiana Hoosiers 7-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Will Semb (1-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Minnesota (15-17, ). Freshman Tyler Hemmesch continued a strong freshman campaign out of the bullpen, going four shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking one and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Gophers put their first and only run on the board in the fifth inning with a solo home run by Drew Berkland. The 'U' was unable to get any closer, as Indiana added two runs to their tally on the way to a 7-1 final.
GAME NOTES
» Minnesota pitchers limited Indiana to just 2-for-11 (.182) with runners in scoring position.
» Berkland led the Golden Gophers at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.
» Indiana was led offensively by junior Carter Mathison, who went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
