MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) - Jack Glover's "lucky little deflection" proved to be the game winner as the senior defenseman's first goal in nearly two years pushed the No. 10 Gopher Hockey program to a 2-1 win over No. 6 Ohio State on Friday night.

Minnesota (19-13-1 overall, 10-10-1-1 Big Ten) has now won six of the last seven games.

Glover, who last scored a pair of goals on March 4, 2016 in a drought that lasted 46 games, notched the eventual game winner in his 100th career game at 9:43 of the second period when he fired a rebound shot from the point that deflected off a Buckeye defenseman and past Sean Romeo in goal. Rem Pitlick and Casey Mittelstadt assisted on the game-winning goal.

Brent Gates Jr. scored his 10th goal of the year at 9:02 of the first period to give Minnesota an early lead off assists from Tommy Novak and Tyler Sheehy.

Matt Miller's power-play goal at 18:27 of the second period proved to be the lone strike for the Buckeyes (19-8-4, 12-8-1-0).

In goal for the Gophers, Mat Robson made 21 saves on 22 shots to improve to 7-2-0 on the year. The sophomore has now allowed two goals or fewer in eight of his 10 appearances this season for the Maroon & Gold.

Minnesota outshot the Buckeyes 28-22 on the night, went 2-for-3 on the penalty kill and 0-for-0 on the power play.

The Gophers close out this weekend's series with Ohio State with Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 17. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. CT. Tickets are currently available at GopherSports.com, by calling 1-800-U-Gopher, or by stopping by the ticket office at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
