SAINT CLOUD, Minn. (GopherSports.com) - Jack Ramsey's first career goal and a 30-save night from Eric Schierhorn wasn't enough as the Gopher Hockey program fell to St. Cloud State by a 3-2 margin on Saturday night at the National Hockey Center.

Minnesota (2-2-0 overall, 0-0-0-0 Big Ten) built a two-goal lead in the first period with goals from Ramsey and Taylor Cammarata, but the Huskies answered back with two in the second and the deciding goal in the third.

After fighting for a goal for the first 33 games of his career, it didn't take long for Ramsey put the Gophers up by a goal on Saturday night - one-timing a blast home for his first career goal at 2:27 of the first period. The opening goal was set up by Darian Romanko and Cammarata.

Cammarata added his first of the season later in the period on a power play when he made a moot point of an earlier waved off goal. The senior forward sent the Gophers into the first intermission up by two after scoring at 18:59 with assists to Steve Johnson and Leon Bristedt. Minnesota would end the night 1-for-3 on the power play.

St. Cloud State (2-2-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) replicated the two-goal period in the second stanza though - picking up a pair of goals in less than a minute from Jack Poehling at 14:40 and Jacob Benson at 15:33.

A tie game carried into the third period when the Huskies took advantage of one of their four power-play chances on the night, scoring at 13:00 off the stick of Mikey Eyssimont for the eventual game winner.

Minnesota was outshot 31-33 on the night with Schierhorn adding his second-straight night with 30 or more saves. The sophomore moved to 2-2-0 on the year.

The Gophers return to action next weekend with a nonconference road trip to New York. Minnesota plays at Clarkson on Friday, Oct. 29 before a game at St. Lawrence on Saturday, Oct. 30.
