Head Coach Don Lucia quotes
Opening statement
“It was a well-played, hard-fought game. I think the pace was good for a quick turnaround. Both goaltenders were sharp. Colorado College played well defensively. Richard Bachman is a great goaltender and he made a couple key saves. There weren’t that many offensive chances for either team tonight. Most of the game was played outside and I think we dug in defensively.”
On Minnesota’s penalty kill in the second period
“It was the type of game where I knew we couldn’t fall behind by two goals. It was important that we killed off the two five-on-threes opportunities. The guys battled and we managed to hold Colorado College from scoring.”
On Colorado College’s power play goal
“We had guys around the net, but we couldn’t get a stick up. They made the play. I thought our guys played hard and competed. Colorado College is a good team. They won the league last year for a reason. They know how to win too and they game back today to play a very good game.”
On the going into Christmas with three loses
“I’m not disappointed at all on how we played. I thought we played well. Going back to the beginning of the year, if you would have said that we would only have two big loses by Christmas time, I would be happy. It’s a very competitive league and trying to get points every weekend is important.”
