Karl Anderson joined the University of Minnesota in January of 2018. He currently serves as the secondary contact for football, primary contact for wrestling, and is the liaison between the communications department and academics.
Anderson switched over to football prior to the 2021-22 season after spending three seasons as the primary contact for women's basketball and men's golf. He also worked with the swimming and diving teams from 2021-22 before becoming primary contact for wrestling before the 2023-24 campaign.
Prior to Minnesota, Anderson worked in the athletic communications office at the University of Oklahoma from 2012-18 where he was the primary contact for softball and secondary for football. While with the Sooners, he was a part of a softball program that won three national titles (2013, 2016-17) and a football team that won four Big 12 titles and twice appeared in the College Football Playoff. He also helped with campaigns for multiple Heisman Trophy finalists, including 2017 winner Baker Mayfield.
Anderson was also a staff assistant at his alma mater, Wisconsin, from 2009-12. In his time there, he worked with football, men's basketball, women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's tennis. Anderson also worked in the Wisconsin communications office as a student assistant for two years after serving as a student assistant in the Creighton University sports information department prior to attending UW-Madison.
The Minneapolis, Minn., native graduated in 2008 from UW-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in communication arts and currently lives in White Bear Lake with his wife, Alicia, and twin daughters Brynn and Morgan.
