Bio
2024-25 | FRESHMAN
• Competed in four regattas in her first season with the Gophers
• Ended the year by placing sixth in the 1N8 Grand Finals at the Big Ten Conference Championships (May 18) after finishing third in the opening-day heats (May 17)
• Raced three times on the 1N8 boat during the Big Ten Invitational (Apr. 18-19) in Sarasota, Fla., placing fifth, fourth, and third at the regatta
• Picked up a 1N8 victory over Iowa and Kansas on day one of the Big 12/Big Ten Double Duel (Apr. 11-12) before placing second on the final day
• Made her collegiate debut as part of the 1N8 crew at the season-opening Head of the Mississippi Regatta (Oct. 5) and finished first in the Collegiate Freshman 8+ race
PERSONAL
• Daughter of Rob and Gail Petersen
• Has two older brothers, JJ Snell and Chad Snell
• Graduated as the valedictorian from Grand Rapids High School in 2024
• Was a three-sport student-athlete with the Thunderhawks, competing in swimming, Nordic skiing, and lacrosse
• Named to the all-state swimming team in 2022 and was an all-conference swimming selection six times to go with four all-conference Nordic skiing honors
• Landed on the all-section lacrosse team as a midfielder in 2023 and 2024
• Helped the Thunderhawks swim team win five section championships between 2018 and 2022
• Was the Grand Rapids winner of the Heisman Scholarship
• Selected as a STEM All-Star of Northern Minnesota as a senior
• Named to the Academic All-State Lacrosse Team in 2023 and 2024
• Given the Yale Book Award for Outstanding Performance and Dedication in English in 2023
• Earned a Certificate of Excellence in English (2022), Science (2023), Social Studies (2023), and Math (2024)
• Enjoys reading, biking along the Mesabi Trail, lake swimming back home, and being outdoors camping and hiking
• Chose to attend the University of Minnesota because of "the inclusive environment it instills, the beautiful campus, and the countless opportunities available for my designated career in physical therapy"
