Played prep hockey at Hopkins • head coach was Chad Nyberg • posted an 11-12-1 record with a 3.02 goals against average and .912 save percentage for the Royals in his senior year • recorded four shutouts on the season and had four games with 50 or more saves • Hobey Baker High School Character Award recipient • was a two-time team captain and Team MVP • received All-Classic Lake Conference honors, was selected to the Star Tribune All-Metro Second Team, and was recognized on the AP All-State Honorable Mention Team in each of his final three high school seasons • participated in the Minnesota Wild Skills Competition in January of 2010 along with current Gophers Nick Bjugstad and Justin Holl • was 1-0-0 in two appearances with the Sioux Falls Stampede in 2009-10 • was 1-2-0 in five games played for the Alexandria Blizzard of the NAHL in 2010-11 • joined the Gopher hockey team on Jan. 19, 2010.
