2017Â - JUNIOR SEASON:
Led the starting rotation with a 2.66 ERA and posted a 5-2 record with 92 strikeouts, tied eight most in a season by a Gopher pitcher - oppponents had a .184 batting average against - was 4-1 with a 1.76 ERA in Big Ten play while striking out 53 conference opponents - his 1.03 WHIP ranked within the top 50 in the country - First Team All-Big Ten - College Baseball's Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year semifinalist - was named the Dave Winfield Pitcher of the Year. Game Highlights: Struck out five batters in three innings vs Seattle U (2/24) - only allowed one run in six innings vs Oral Roberts (3/3) in the Dairy Queen Classic while striking out five batters - rang up six batters vs Missouri State (3/10) - tossed six scoreless innings at Sacramento State (3/16) where he only allowed two hits and struck out nine batters - recorded seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings at Ohio State (3/24) - rang up eight batters in six innings in the first game of a doubleheader at Michigan State (4/1) - did not allow a run and struck out eight batters at Indiana (4/14) - struck out seven batters in six innings vs Nebraska (4/21) - threw 6.1 innings vs Illinois (4/28) and struck out seven batters - set a career high with 10 strikeouts in seven innings at Penn State (5/5) - pitched seven innings vs No. 10 Long Beach State (5/12) where he struck out six batters and allowed three earned runs on five hits - finished the season with six strikeouts vs Indiana (5/24) in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament.
2016 SUMMER BASEBALL:
Made 14 relief appearances for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod League - finished the summer with a 4.26 ERA and 20 strikeouts - pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings in the first round of the playoffs.
2016 - SOPHOMOREÂ SEASON:
Held a team-low 1.36 ERA in 16 appearances on the mound - went 3-2 and struck out 46 compared to just 15 walks in 33.0 innings - went 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA and fanned 29 in Big Ten play - did not allow an earned run in 12 appearances, including the first nine of the season. Game Highlights: Made season debut and tossed 1.2 innings with two strikeouts at No. 23 Missouri State (3/25) - struck out three in 2.0 flawless innings versus Saint Mary's (3/30) - notched a strikeout in 1.1 innings of work to help secure series win against Iowa (4/1) - tossed a scoreless innings that incldued two strikeouts at No. 25 Michigan (4/8) - earned a pair of wins after throwing 4.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against Maryland (4/15-4/17) - struck out three in 1.1 innings without allowing an earned run at Northwestern (4/22) - tossed 2.0 scoreless frames with two strikeouts and earned first career save in series-opening win at Illinois (4/29) - set a career-high with seven strikeouts in 3.0 innings out of the bullpen in 19-7 win against Kansas (5/3) - totaled six strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work in series against Indiana (5/6-5/8) - earned the win after going 2.1 flawless stanzas with four strikeouts in a 4-3 series-opening win at Purdue (5/13) - struck out four in 4.0 innings of work in two appearances versus Ohio State (5/19-5/21) - tossed 1.2 scorless innings with a strikeout against Wake Forest (6/3) - made first career start and struck out four in 4.2 innings versus Wake Forest (6/5).
2015 SUMMER BASEBALL:
Played for the St. Cloud Rox in the Northwoods League - appeared in 15 games and made eight starts - went 5-1 and held the second-lowest ERA among starters on the team with a 2.45 ERA - struck out 53 in 44 innings of work on the mound - named NWL Pitcher of the Week after slinging a one-hitter through seven innings - participated in the NWL Major League Showcase.Â
2015 - FRESHMAN SEASON:
Pitched 18 times in relief - held a 1-3 record and 5.46 ERA in 28.0 innings - struck out 30 batters and walked 18. Game Highlights: Notched three strikeouts and allowed two runs in 2.0 innings in his collegiate debut at Texas (2/21) - pitched three consecutive scoreless outings at Florida Gulf Coast (3/1), at Creighton (3/7) and against James Madison (3/13) - threw 2.0 innings with three strikeouts against Michigan (4/25) - helped the Gophers toss a one-hitter with 1.0 inning against Kansas State (4/28) - fanned four in 2.1 shutout innings at North Daota State (5/5) - pitched a season-high 3.2 innings at Iowa and allowed one run on two hits (5/10) - tied a season high with four strikeouts against Michigan State (5/15).
HIGH SCHOOL:
Graduated from Legacy High School in 2014 - drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 36th round (1,073rd overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft - led Colorado Class 5A in strikeouts both as a senior (114) and as a junior (93) - held a 6-2 record and 1.45 ERA in 68 innings his senior year and pitched four complete games, include a 12-strikeout shutout - received second-team All-Colorado honors from the Denver Post in 2014 - twice named first-team Front Range League All-Conference - 2014 Legacy High School Male Athlete of the Year - posted a 4-2 record, 2.19 ERA and three complete games as a junior - coached by Ty Giordano - academic all-state first team 2011-14 - played fall and summer baseball with the Diamond Club and the Rockies Scout Team program.
PERSONAL:
Mechanical Engineering major - son of Chris and Theresa Gilbreath - has two sisters, Ellie and Lauren - born March 5, 1996.
