Gophers Mourn the Loss of Ronald Causton

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The University of Minnesota baseball program mourns the loss of Gopher great and 1960 national champion, Ronald Causton, who passed away recently at the age of 88.
A two year letter winner with the Golden Gophers, Causton was a member of back-to-back Big Ten Championship teams in 1959 and 1960, and helped lead the Gophers to the program's second NCAA National Championship title in 1960. Causton earned First Team All-American honors and First Team All-Big Ten honors for his efforts with the Gophers in 1959.
Following his baseball career, Causton went on to become a social studies teacher and guidance counselor in the Saint Paul Public Schools system where he had a prolific career as a basketball coach, being named to the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2012.
