Blake Nixon Jr. Set to Join Gopher Men's Basketball Program

The University of Minnesota men's basketball program and head coach Niko Medved added Blake Nixon Jr. (Minneapolis, Minn.) to the Golden Gopher program. Nixon will join the team for summer workouts in June.
Nixon Jr., a 6-foot, 3-inch guard, played for Holy Angels and Hoops Habits Elite AAU program. As a junior with Holy Angels, Nixon was selected an all-conference honoree. He averaged 19.8 points when he scored 535 points and played in all 27 games. Nixon Jr. also shot 43 percent from the field and 91 percent from the charity stripe that season. He also averaged 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists that season. In his senior season, Nixon Jr. scored his 1,000th career point and played in 12 games before ending his season with a knee injury. In the span of those 12 games, he averaged 16.9 points (203 total) and shot 44 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. He also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Off the court, Nixon Jr. received the Holy Angels Scholar of Distinction, which is given to individuals with a grade point average of 4.0 or higher.
