MINNEAPOLIS, MINN – University of Minnesota senior catcher Weber Neels has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week for his effort throughout the Gophers' 4-0 week against NDSU and Northwestern, as announced by the conference this afternoon.

Neels slashed a .600 batting average, .667 on-base percentage, and a 1.200 slugging percentage throughout Minnesota's perfect week against the Bison and the Wildcats. Neels tallied nine RBIs on nine total hits, including three home runs and 18 total bases. The senior backstop also logged a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, totaling 29 putouts and three assists.

This marks Neels' second Big Ten weekly honor of the 2026 season, last being named Player of the Week back in March.

Golden Gopher baseball returns to Siebert Field tomorrow night against the St. Thomas Tommies. All the action is set to kick off at 6:02 PM (CT).
