4/22/2026 2:00:00 PM | Tennis
MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota tennis junior Jeselle Ante (Riverside, Calif.) has been named one of 18 Big Ten Conference Sportsmanship Award honorees for the first time in her career. The Sportsmanship Award is given to student-athletes with distinguished sportsmanship, ethical behavior, academic standing, and good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Ante joined Minnesota for the 2024-25 season after transferring from the University of Wyoming, and recently completed her second year with the program. She moved from No. 6 singles last season to primarily competing at No. 1 singles during the 2025-26 campaign. Ante's passion and leadership have played a vital role in the team's success on and off the court, as well as in the program's development under third-year head coach Lois Arterberry.
Since making her collegiate debut in fall 2023, Ante has recorded 50 career singles wins, 34 at Minnesota, and 48 career doubles victories, including 32 with the Gophers. Ante led the Gophers in singles (19) and doubles wins (16) this season, both career highs. She was named to the 2026 Big Ten preseason players to watch list and rose to No. 117 in the ITA rankings after defeating No. 36 Kyoko Kubo of Kansas on Feb. 20.
