Minnesota Drops Match to No. 21 Washington, 4-0

SEATTLE, Wash. — The University of Minnesota tennis team fell to No. 21 Washington 4-0 on Saturday at the Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium.
 
Key Moments
Washington secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Jeselle Ante and Aiva Schmitz fell 6-0 to Erika Matsuda and Karolina Kozakova at No. 1 to open doubles play. The point was clinched at No. 3, where Nora Knezevic and Mia Liepert were defeated 6-2 by Reece Carter and Jermine Sherif. The No. 2 match between Anlin Xie and Arina Valitova and Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim was left unfinished at 5-4.
 
Washington clinched the match with singles wins at No. 5, No. 6 and No. 3. Arina Valitova fell 6-0, 6-2 to Jermine Sherif at No. 5, followed by a 6-2, 6-3 loss from Nora Knezevic to Karolina Kozakova at No. 6. The match was decided at No. 3, where Aiva Schmitz dropped a 7-6, 6-4 decision to Alexis Jacobs. Three matches went unfinished, with Mia Liepert splitting sets with No. 75 Erika Matsuda at No. 1, Jeselle Ante trailing No. 78 Reece Carter 6-1, 4-6, 3-2 at No. 2 and Anlin Xie down 6-4, 5-3 to No. 118 Marie Weissheim at No. 4.
