Eight Gophers Earn NWCA Scholar All-America Honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Eight members of the Minnesota wrestling program have been recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for their work in the classroom and on the mat, the NWCA announced Wednesday.
Receiving honors for the Golden Gophers were sixth-year senior Andrew Sparks, senior Jore Volk, redshirt sophomores Rhett Koenig, Max McEnelly and Ethan Riddle, and redshirt freshmen Silas Dailey, Koy Hopke and Charlie Millard.
The honor is the second career for McEnelly, Riddle and Sparks, while Dailey, Hopke, Koenig, Millard and Volk all earned the recognition for the first time.
Minnesota's eight honorees tied for fifth in the country and tied for the most in the Big Ten along with Illinois, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
All nominees are determined by the academic records returned and the results in TrackWrestling. They must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible:
