Schwartz Spins Gem as Gophers Edge Hawkeyes

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Senior Sydney Schwartz was dominant in the circle on Sunday, spinning a one-hit shutout to lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers to a 1-0 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Schwartz (7-8) went the distance for Minnesota (10-20, 2-3), allowing just one hit while walking one and striking out six in a complete-game effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers broke through in the fifth inning, plating the game's only run. Junior Brooklyn Jones came around to score, giving Minnesota a 1-0 lead it would not relinquish.

GAME NOTES
» Schwartz tossed a one-hit shutout for Minnesota.
» Schwartz struck out six Hawkeyes hitters.
» Minnesota scored its lone run in the fifth inning.
» The Golden Gophers out-hit the Hawkeyes, 6-1.
