Ostrum's Perfect 10 Spurs 'U' on to Senior Day Rout

The Gophers scored a 197.825, the fourth-best all-time score
MINNEAPOLIS -- No. 13 Minnesota gymnastics took home three victories Sunday in its Senior Day Meet at Maturi Pavilion. The Gophers (197.825) outlasted No. 20 Iowa (196.375), Illinois (195.150) and Northern Illinois (191.400).
Minnesota's score was its fourth best in program history and topped its prior best of the season (197.700).
"The team's really been coming together each and every week," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "To be able to send your seniors out like this, it's exactly what you're hoping for."
The Gophers scored 49.450 on vault, 49.325 on bars, 49.500 on beam and 49.550 on the floor.
Arianna Ostrum won the all-around title for the third straight meet with a career-best 39.675. She won on vault with her first career perfect 10 while Jordyn Lyden and Emma Slevin tied for the bars title at 9.950. Lyden also won the beam title with a 9.950. Ostrum won on the floor with a career-best 9.975.
"I'm so glad Arianna and Jordyn were rewarded for the routines they did," Hansen said. "They were just amazing tonight and it'll certainly validate the hard work they've been doing. It'll give them confidence going into Big Ten's."
Minnesota is starting to perform at its highest level and has big time hopes heading into next weekend's Big Ten Championships.
"We have to figure out what we can do to create the feelings we have here at home to be able to perform at a high level on the road. We've had some good discussions with the team and feel really good going into next weekend. I think having a practice day ahead of time and being able to use the equipment will be good for us," she said.
VAULT
The Gophers had their best vault score of the season with a 49.450. Arianna Ostrum anchored the team with a perfect 10, the first of her career. Gianna Gerdes and Sarah Moraw both had 9.900s on their senior nights. Ava Stewart and Teryn Crump both went 9.825 to round out the group. Minnesota took a commanding lead after rotation one as the only team to score over 49.000.
BARS
Minnesota went 49.325 on bars, their fifth time this season over 49.300. Emma Slevin and Jordyn Lyden tied for the lead with season-best 9.950s. Teryn Crump and Arianna Ostrum earned 9.825s while Lacie Saltzmann rounded out the group with a 9.775. After two rotations, Minnesota led by over almost point at 98.775 to Iowa's 97.900, Illinois' 97.625 and NIU's 96.275.
BEAM
Minnesota tallied its second best beam score of the year with a 49.500. Jordyn Lyden anchored the group with a 9.950, tying a season-best. Lauren Pearl (9.900) and Brooklyn Rowray (9.925) both went over 9.900 for their senior night while fellow senior Sarah Moraw earned a 9.850. Arianna Ostrum rounded out the group with a 9.875. After three rotations, Minnesota led everyone by over a point at 148.275.
FLOOR
Minnesota totaled a 49.550 to finish off the night. Arianna Ostrum had another stellar performance with a career-best 9.975. Lacie Saltzmann led off with a career-best 9.925 while Leah Gonsiorowski tied her career-best at 9.900. Megan Steensland set a season-best with a 9.875 and Jordyn Lyden tallied the same score to round out the group.
NOTES
-Minnesota's team score of 197.825 was its best of the season and fourth best all-time. It was the team's first time going over 197.800 since 2022.
