Nabwe Wins National Title in Women's Weight Throw

Her throw of 25.13m ranks fourth all-time in NCAA history

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Anthonett Nabwe became the third Golden Gopher women's track and field athlete to win a national title when she took home the women's weight throw title on Friday night of the NCAA Track and Field Championships.

Nabwe's throw of 25.13 meters (82-5.5 feet) set a new personal-best and ranked as the third best throw in NCAA history. It was also the tenth best performance in world history. Her previous best was 24.67 meters (80-11.25 feet). Nabwe, who was the No. 1 ranked student-athlete heading into the national championships, placed 16th in the weight throw in 2024 (20.08 meters) and 11th in 2025 (21.59 meters). 

Kaitlyn Long in 2018 and Heather Dorniden in 2006 were the only other Golden Gopher in program history to win a national title. Long won in weight throw with a toss of 23.30 meters (76-5.5 feet) while Dornidon won in the indoor 800m.

Redshirt junior Hadley Streit finished in the top-10 at the women's weight throw finals. She took home All-America honors with a ninth place finish and a top throw of 21.60 meters (70-10.5 feet). Streit also took ninth in the weight throw in 2025 in her first career appearance at NCAA's with a throw of 22.03 meters (72-3.5 feet).

Zoie Dundon punched her ticket to the women's 800m final as well with a top-five qualifying time in tonight's prelims. In Minnesota's first 800m indoor NCAAs bid, Dundon ran to a 2:02.51 time to take fifth out of 16 competitors. The top eight advanced to tomorrow's 800m final, which begins at 5:10 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
