Bennett Tallies Another Podium Finish on Day Three of Big Ten Championships

MADISON, WIS. – The University of Minnesota men's swimming and diving program closed out day three of competition at the 2026 Big Ten Championships tonight, collecting another podium finish and breaking another school record at the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center.

 

Over in the diving well, Drew Bennett collected his second podium finish in as many days on the 3-meter springboard. Bennett tallied a 388.35 to finish third overall in the event, while Braylon Goodno took fourth overall with a personal best of 327.55.

 

Davide Harabagiu started off the day strong, breaking the school record in the 100 back with a personal best and NCAA qualifying mark of 46.25 during the preliminary round. Harabagiu went on to take 19th overall in the event with a "C" finals time of 46.39.

 

Joe Polyak tallied a NCAA qualifying mark and personal best of 1:52.58 in the prelim round for the 200 breast, and went on to finish sixth overall in the event with an "A" finals time of 1:53.05. John Watson tallied a personal best and NCAA qualifying time in the "C" final with a 1:54.20.

 

Luke Brennan took seventh overall in the 500 free, tallying a personal best and NCAA qualifying mark of 4:16.36. Daniel Eichel finished 14th overall with a 4:19.06, and Ethan Schutten finished 21st overall with a personal best of 4:20.43.

 

Jacob Johnson served as the Gophers sole competitor in the 50 free, swimming to a 20th place finish with a time of 19.81. 

 

Minnesota finished out the night with an eighth place finish in the 400 medley relay, tallying a total time of 3:06.61. Harabagiu launched the effort with a split time of 46.27, followed by Polyak with a 52.21 split. Jacob Johnson tallied a split of 44.75 on the third leg, with Ian Steffen anchoring the relay with a split time of 43.38.

 

The University of Minnesota sits at eighth in the team standings with a total score of 430. Indiana University sits at the top of the leaderboard with a total team score of 1061.5. 

 

The final day of competition at the 2026 Men's Big Ten Championships is set to kick off tomorrow morning. All the action is currently scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.
