GAME ONE
MINNEAPOLIS - Sydney Schwartz dominated on Saturday, striking out eight Central Michigan hitters over seven innings of work to help lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers over the Chippewas 6-1.
In addition to her eight strikeouts, Schwartz (4-2) threw seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and walking one for Minnesota (6-7).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Minnesota got on the board thanks to Jessa Snippes' RBI double with two outs.
The Chippewas failed to push any runs across before the Golden Gophers built on their lead in the third inning. Minnesota scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Tara Wolocko, which brought the Golden Gophers lead to 2-0.
Central Michigan narrowed Minnesota's lead to 2-1 before the Golden Gophers stretched the advantage to 3-1 in the fourth inning.
Minnesota kept the Chippewas scoreless before their offense got in gear the next inning. The three-run frame for the Golden Gophers was punctuated by a two-run single off the bat of Maggie Werner, bringing the score to 6-1 in favor of Minnesota. The score remained 6-1 for the rest of the game, as the Golden Gophers coasted to the win.

GAME TWO
MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Golden Gophers dropped a 5-4 decision to the North Dakota State Bison to finish day two of the Gopher Indoor Classic at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Minnesota (6-8) collected 10 hits in the contest and used a four-run fourth inning to erase an early deficit, but North Dakota State scored twice in the seventh to secure the win. Sydney Schwartz (5-3) took the loss in relief, while McClary (3-3) earned the win for the Bison after throwing the final two innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
North Dakota State broke through in the top of the fourth inning, capitalizing on a Minnesota error and stringing together three extra-base hits. A two-run double put the Bison on the board before an RBI double extended the lead to 3-0.
The Golden Gophers responded immediately in the bottom half of the frame. Tara Wolocko started the rally with a double down the left field line, and back-to-back singles from Jessa Snippes and Scarlett Kuhn loaded the bases. Keali Cochran tied the game with a two-RBI single. After a sacrifice bunt moved runners into scoring position, Tinley Easton delivered a two-run double to give Minnesota a 4-3 advantage.
Minnesota's pitching staff held the Bison scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings, preserving the one-run lead heading into the seventh.
In the top of the seventh, North Dakota State rallied. A leadoff double set the table, and an RBI double to left center evened the score at 4-4. Later in the inning, a sacrifice fly brought home the go-ahead run, giving the Bison a 5-4 lead.
The Gophers threatened in the bottom of the seventh when B. Jones doubled to left field, but the Bison recorded the final three outs to close out the contest.
