STARTING FIVE
• The Golden Gopher men's basketball team continues its trek along the Pacific Northwest as it competes at Oregon Tuesday, Feb. 17. The contest marks the first time since 2002 the Gophers have competed in Eugene, Ore., as the Ducks won that contest, 90-81. Overall, the Gophers are 1-3 in Eugene, first in 1966, again in 1984 and 1999, and last in 2022. The
• Minnesota won the last game between the two teams when it earned a 77-69 win over then-No. 15 Oregon on Jan. 25, 2025. In that game, Dawson Garcia scored 31 points and Parker Fox recorded his first double-double as a Gopher with 13 points and 11 rebounds at Williams Arena.
Cade Tyson had team-high totals of 22 points, Bobby Durkin had 13 points and Isaac Asuma added 11 for the Gophers, but Washington shot a season-high 63 percent and used an extended 23-4 run to snap a three-game losing streak with a 69-57 win versus Minnesota at Alaska Airlines Arena. Minnesota, which was playing without starting forward Jaylen Crocker-Johnson, led 26-25 with 4:46 remaining in the first half, but the Huskies outscored the Gophers 14-0 to close the half and then extended the run to 23-4 early in the second half to build a 48-30 lead. Minnesota twice cut UW's lead to 11 points, but that's as close as the shorthanded Gophers were able to get in dropping their second game in a row.
Cade Tyson scored 22 points in Saturday's game against Washington. It marked the 10th time Tyson has scored 20-plus points in a game this season. Of those 10 games, Tyson also scored 30-plus points in two games, including 38 points and eight threes.
Bobby Durkin scored 13 points at Washington, marking the sixth time in Big Ten play he's scored double-digit points. Durkin had four straight games in which he scored over 10 points, including 20 at Wisconsin (Jan. 24). Durkin is averaging 9.6 points and shooting 44.4 percent from the field and over 50 percent from three in the last five games.
