Zoie Dundon also broke Minnesota's indoor mile school record on Saturday.

MINNEAPOLIS – For the first time in seven years, there is a new Big Ten weight throw all-time record holder after Anthonett Nabwe set a lifetime best at the Tyson Invitational at Randal Tyson Track Center. In the process the redshirt junior also broke Minnesota's eight-year-old school record, previously held by 2018 NCAA weight throw champion Kaitlyn Long.

Nabwe's record-breaking toss of 24.67m (80-11 1/4) came on attempt five of the pro-level competition that saw the Liberian finish as the meet's runner-up to now-professional, and the No. 3 all-time NCAA weight thrower, Jalani Davis (Ole Miss). Nabwe briefly lost the 2025-26 NCAA lead that she entered the competition with to Giavonna Meeks of Texas (24.49m | 80-4 1/4) in round three before Nabwe sent her fifth-round record weight throw mark that made her the first Gopher to go beyond 80-feet in the event. Nabwe's toss is the best by any collegiate student-athlete in two years (Jalani Davis, 2024) and is the 14th-best throw in the world this year by a woman.

The highlight of the day on Saturday came on the track with Zoie Dundon securing her first program record in the indoor mile to bring home the win. Dundon's 4:31.92 breaks a two-week-old record that was held by Isabelle Schmitz who's 4:34.67 came at the Meyo Invite on January 31. Dundon's lifetime best is the 14th-fastest in the NCAA this year and is a top-5 time in the Big Ten Conference in 2025-26.

Earlier on Friday Minnesota had a trio of impressive finishes on the track in the 3000m. Led by the winning time of 9:07.91 by sophomore Isabelle Schmitz the Maroon and Gold also saw Ali Weimer finish as the meet's runner-up with the fourth-fastest 3000m in school history while Izzy Roemer clocked the eighth-fastest in Gopher history all in the same race. Weimer's 9:08.00 moved the Saint Michael, Minn., native from No. 5 to No. 4 all-time at the 'U' in the event while Roemer moved from No. 10 to No. 8 with her time of 9:18.83.

Minnesota wrapped up competition in Arkansas with the fifth-fastest 4x400m relay in school history. The quartet of Zeal Kuku, Kennedy Martinson, LauBenra Ben and Kitania Headley put together a time of 3:36.32 to post the fastest time by a mile relay at the 'U' since 2024. The 4x400m relay performance also goes down as a top-six time in the Big Ten this season.

The final regular season indoor competition for the Golden Gophers will be at the Snowshoe Open on February 20. The one-day meet will be the final test before the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships from February 26-28, in Indianapolis, at the Fall Creek Pavilion. The men's track and field team will begin their outdoor campaign on March 6-7 at the Beach Opener, in Long Beach, Calif.
