The Maroon and Gold also had four Event Squads ranked inside the top 15 nationally.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's track and field team came in at No. 22 in the first 2026 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, the organization announced on Tuesday. The Maroon and Gold also had four different events that were ranked inside the top 15 Event Squad rankings, which measures the cumulative depth of a team's top athletes in specific disciplines.

Minnesota's No. 22 ranking is the best indoors for the women since February 5, 2024, when the squad was also No. 22. That season Minnesota went on to finish 26th at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass.

The Golden Gophers also had four different event groups that were ranked inside the top 15 nationally, highlighted by the No. 2 weight throw contingent of Anthonett Nabwe, Hadley Streit, Rejoice Agbewodie and Ella Pavlovich. The quartet holds an average weight throw of 21.16m (69-5 1/4) with Nabwe leading the way with the No. 1 NCAA mark at 23.74m (77-10 3/4). Zoie Dundon and Isabelle Schmitz lead the way for Minnesota's 800m (2:09.51 average) and Mile (4:43.45 average) groups that come in at No. 6 and No. 12 nationally. Lastly the young 400m quartet of Zeal Kuku, Ellie Kuechle, LauBenra Ben and Kitania Headley were ranked No. 14 nationally (55.55 average).

This weekend Minnesota splits up between the Jack Johnson Classic on January 30, while another portion of the squad will travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Meyo Invitational from January 30-31.
