Softball Puts Five on Academic All-District Team

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota softball team had five student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators 2025 Academic All-District Team, it was announced Tuesday.
Breezy Burnett, Presley Hosick, Taylor Krapf, Sydney Schwartz and Margaret Tobias all earned the recognition for the Golden Gophers.
Selected by College Sports Communicators, the 2024-25 Academic All-District Softball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. In addition to needing a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, eligible nominees must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or started in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35.0 innings.
Krapft and Schwartz both advanced to the All-America voting stage. Academic All-America teams will be announced June 17.
A junior, Burnett started all 50 games for Minnesota this year and led the team with three triples. A 2024 Academic All-Big Ten honoree, she also finished second on the roster with two stolen bases and third with 24 RBI.
Hosick, a junior, finished second on Minnesota in pitchers appearances (28), games started at pitcher (15), wins (6), innings pitched (77.2), complete games (3) and saves (2).
Krapf is a repeat honoree as she earned All-District honors a year ago en route to being named a CSC Third Team Academic All-American. Starting all 50 games this season, the senior led Minnesota in numerous offensive categories, including runs (32), doubles (14), home runs (16), RBI (41), total bases (110), slugging percentage (.815), walks (29), hit by pitch (15) and on-base percentage (.489). Her 16 home runs this year was seventh most in program history.
Schwartz, a junior, added to her accolades this season as earlier this month she was placed on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team. The Gophers' top pitcher, she finished fifth in the Big Ten in complete games (13) and saves (3), sixth in starts by a pitcher (27) and innings pitched (158.0), and seventh in pitching appearances (39). Schwartz's three saves this year tied for eighth most in program history and 11th most in the country (2nd in the Big Ten) this year.
Tobias started all 48 games she played in this season. She led the Big Ten in both assists (112) and assists per game (2.33), while leading Minnesota in stolen bases (3) and assists. The senior ranked second on the team in at-bats (135), runs (28), hits (45), triples (2), walks (25) and OBP (.416), and third in total bases (50).
