SCOUTING MINNESOTA
- The No. 15 Minnesota gymnastics team finished the regular season with a 14-1 (8-1 B1G) record. The Gophers hold a season-high score of 197.375, an NQS of 197.095 and an average of 196.677. Of Minnesota's 14 wins, five have come against teams that were ranked in the Road to Nationals top-25.
- The Gophers rank 11th on vault, 17th on bars, 16th on beam and 12th on floor. Their vault high score is 49.400, bars is 49.425, beam 49.375 and floor 49.550.
- The 'U' holds wins over CMU, UNH, Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State, Washington, Nebraska, Illinois, ISU, Maryland, Michigan, LIU and Centenary. Its only loss came at Michigan St., who is ranked eighth nationally.
- Individually, Mya Hooten ranks No. 21 on vault and 11th on floor nationally this season. Jordyn Lyden ranks 27th nationally on the uneven bars. Ava Stewart ranks 25th on vault.
Hooten, who was named an AAI Nominee for the second consecutive year, earned her fourth First Team All-Big Ten honor and fifth overall. Jordyn Lyden, Sarah Moraw and Ava Stewart were all named to the second team, while Stewart made the All-Freshman Team too. It was all their first All-B1G honor. - The 'U' has taken home 46 event titles in 11 meets, and eight different individuals have won at least one. Mya Hooten leads the team with 16 while Jordyn Lyden has 11 and Ava Stewart holds six.
Minnesota has earned Big Ten Weekly awards four times this season. Mya Hooten has earned Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week twice in 2025, while Teryn Crump and Ava Stewart have each won Freshman of the Week. - Last season, Minnesota went 20-11 (6-3 Big Ten) and finished second at the B1G Championships in East Lansing, Mich. The Gophers went to the NCAA Regional Finals for the third time in the last four seasons and their No. 12 final ranking was the highest finish of any Big Ten team.
- Minnesota's second place finish at the 2024 Big Ten Championships came with a score of 197.500, missing winning the conference crown by .100 to Michigan State (197.600). It was the second-best finish at the Big Ten Championships since 2006 (won Big Ten title in 2021).
- The 'U' made nationals three times (2016, 2021, 2022) the past 10 years, finishing second each time in their regional. Their two regional titles in program laurels came in 1980 and 1982
SCOUTING UCLA
- The No. 5 UCLA Bruins (13-3, 9-0 Big Ten) are led by third-year head coach Janelle McDonald. She's helped the Bruins navigate their first year in the Big Ten with a perfect 9-0 conference record and their first Big Ten regular season championship. Their only losses have come to No. 4 California, No. 19 Oregon State and No. 5 Utah. UCLA ranks 10th on vault and bars and third on beam and floor in 2025.
- Their season-high of 197.950 is a tally only six other teams in the nation have hit. Individually, eight Bruins were named to the All-Big Ten teams, including four on the first team. Jordan Chiles, a two-time Olympian, was named to the first team. She won gymnast of the week six times in 2025.
SCOUTING MICHIGAN ST.
- No. 9 Michigan State (14-3, 8-1 Big Ten) is led by eighth-year head coach Mike Rowe. In 2024, he was named Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Coach of the Year for the third-straight year after his team went 29-7 for the most wins in program history. MSU earned its second-straight Big Ten regular season title and first Big Ten Championship title. Skyla Schulte and Nikki Smith both earned All-America honors.
- The Spartans rank fourth on vault, seventh on bars, 17th on beam and 14th on floor this year. Their only losses this season came to then No. 9 Florida, No. 6 UCLA and No. 6 California. MSU had six All-Big Ten honorees, including first team honorees Skyla Schulte, Gabrielle Stephen, Sage Kellerman and Nikki Smith. Schulte and Stephen became the first gymnasts in program history to earn four All-Big Ten first team honors.
SCOUTING MICHIGAN
- No. 17 Michigan (10-6, 6-3 Big Ten) is by 36th-year head coach Bev Plocki. During her career, she's won Big Ten Coach of the Year 11 times and National Coach of the Year twice. Michigan won the program's first ever national title in 2021. So far this season, UM is 10-6 (6-3 B1G). Their losses have come to No. 12 Denver, No. 6 MSU, No. 2 UCLA, No. 13 Minnesota, No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 12 Alabama. They're 2-6 vs. ranked opponents.
- Michigan ranks 20th on vault, 18th on bars, 14th on beam and 16th on the floor. UM had four All-Big Ten honorees in 2025, including first team selection Carly Bauman. Kayli Boozer, Sophia Diaz and Jahzara Ranger all made the second team. Diaz and Ranger both made the all-freshman team too.
BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
- Minnesota has won six Big Ten Championships in program history (1988, 1989, 1991, 1998, 2006, 2021). Minnesota's last Big Ten title came at home inside Maturi Pavilion. In 2006, the Gophers won the title in East Lansing, Mich.
- In coach Hansen's previous 10 years in charge of the program, the Gophers have finished in the top five at Big Ten's six times. Minnesota took home its first Big Ten title in 15 years in 2021 (197.750). Last year they took second. In 2023 they were third and in 2022 Minnesota was fourth.
- Senior Mya Hooten has won three Big Ten floor titles (2022-24), vault titles (2023-24) and a bars title (2024). Former Gopher Lindsay Mable (2013-16) holds the Minnesota record for most Big Ten titles with eight while Lexy Ramler (2018-22) holds seven.
- Junior Sarah Moraw took home her first Big Ten title in 2024, tying for the beam championship after posting a score of 9.925.
HOOTEN BY THE NUMBERS
- Mya Hooten is an 11-time All-American (7-time WCGA, 4-Time NCAA Championships), six-time Big Ten Champion (three floor, two vault, one bars), four-time All-Big Ten selection (3-time first team), four-time Big Ten All-Championships Team honoree, four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, two-time Academic All-American and an NCAA Regional Champion. She's also tallied nine perfect 10's on floor.
- In her career, she's participated in 191 total routines (63 bars, 62 vault, 60 floor, five beam). She's been 9.900-or-better on 96 of those routines (50.3%). Hooten has gone 9.900-or-better on 29 of 62 vaults (46.8%) and 52 of 60 floor routines (86.7%).
- Hooten earned three perfect 10s on floor last season, bringing her career total to nine. Her season average on floor was 9.945 before regionals, with an NQS of 9.980. On vault, Hooten held a 9.885 average with a season-high of 9.975, which she earned at the Big Ten Championships.

- After week 11 the Gophers came in at No. 15 in the Road to Nationals rankings. They rank No. 11 on vault, 17 on bars, 16 on beam and 12 on the floor. The team's NQS is 197.095 and average of 196.677. Minnesota's team-high score is 197.375.
- Minnesota finished the 2024 season at No. 12 in the Road to Nationals rankings. They ranked 19th on vault, 21st on bars, eighth on beam and 11 th on the floor. Individually, Mya Hooten ranked eighth nationally on vault and second on the floor, earning WCGA All-America honors in both.
- Minnesota began 2025 ranked No. 18 in the WCGA Preseason poll. Now, they rank behind only No. 5 UCLA and No. 9 Michigan St. in the B1G.
ROAD TO NATIONALS INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
- On vault, Mya Hooten (9.873 avg.) ranks 21st nationally (4th in B1G) while Ava Stewart (9.835 avg.) places 25th (7th in B1G).
- Jordyn Lyden (9.886 avg.) comes in at No. 27 nationally (4th in B1G) on bars. Hooten ranks 19th in the B1G (9.825 avg).
- Jordyn Lyden (9.841 avg.) ranks 48th in the country and 8th in the Big Ten on beam.
- Mya Hooten (9.918 avg.) ranks third in the Big Ten and 11th nationally on the floor. Emily Koch ranks 49th and 10th in the Big Ten (9.878 avg.).
EVENT TITLES APLENTY FOR THE 'U'
- Overall in 2025, Minnesota has won 46 event titles in 11 meets. This includes 11 vault (by four individuals), 12 bars (three individuals), 12 beam (five individuals) and 11 floor (two individuals).
- Mya Hooten leads the team with 16 event titles (10 floor, four vault, two bars) while Jordyn Lyden has 11 (seven bars, four beam). Freshman Ava Stewart ranks third with six (three vault, three beam). Eight different Golden Gophers hold at least one event title this season.
FOUR GOPHERS NAMED TO ALL-BIG TEN TEAMS IN 2025
- Gopher gymnasts Mya Hooten, Jordyn Lyden, Sarah Moraw and Ava Stewart were named to the All-Big Ten teams this afternoon, the conference announced. Hooten earned first team honors while Jordyn Lyden, Sarah Moraw and Ava Stewart were named to the second team. Senior Emily Koch was Minnesota's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.
- Mya Hooten earned her fifth consecutive All-Big Ten honor, including her fourth first team accolade. Moraw, Lyden and Stewart each earned their first postseason all-league honor. Stewart was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
