STARTING FIVE
• The Golden Gopher men's basketball team is back in action Thanksgiving week for a pair of games in Palm Desert, Calif., and the AcriSure series. Minnesota plays Stanford on Nov. 27 at 8:30 p.m. CT or 20 minutes after the first game between Saint Louis/Santa Clara. Friday's Gopher action depends on Thursday's action, as the Gophers and Cardinal play either the Billikens or the Broncos. Game time will be either 6 or 8:30 p.m. CT on Friday.
• Over the course of four days, the AcriSure Series features 18 games and 20 teams. Games for the series start as early as Tuesday, Nov. 25, and run through Friday, Nov. 28. It's the third consecutive year, and it's the largest multi-team college basketball event in the nation.
• It marks the second time in five years the Gophers have played in a California-based tournament. The last was the 2022-23 season, when Minnesota participated in the SoCal Challenge in November 2022. Minnesota went 1-1 in the tournament, opening with a 62-61 overtime win against Cal Baptist and falling to UNLV 71-62.
• Minnesota looks to get in the win column Thursday after a 77-65 loss to San Francisco Saturday at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. Langston Reynolds scored 16 points, Cade Tyson had 14, and Jaylen Crocker-Johnson added 10. The Gophers (4-2) used a 13-4 run to tie the score 52-52 with 9:08 remaining, but the Dons (5-1) never trailed and were able to pull away in the closing minutes.
• Cade Tyson leads the team, averaging 21.8 points per game. That ranks third in the Big Ten and 23rd nationally in scoring. Through six games, Tyson has scored double-digit points in all six games this season, one 30-point game, three 20-point games, and two double-digit point games. His 131 total points rank first in the Big Ten and 23rd nationally.
ALL-TIME SERIES
• Minnesota and Stanford are meeting for the seventh time in school history as the Gophers hold a 5-1 record all-time. Thursday's match-up also marks the fourth time the teams have met on a neutral court.
• In 2012, Minnesota and Stanford met up twice, once in the 2011-12 season and again in the 2012-13 season, both at neutral locations. In the last meeting, Gopher alum Andre Hollins made three free throws with 0.4 seconds to play to give Minnesota a 66-63 victory in the fifth-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.

WHERE THEY RANK
• Along with Cade Tyson's 21.8 ppg, Minnesota has a few individuals who rank high in the Big Ten and nationally in a couple of categories. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson ranks third in the Big Ten in overall rebounds (63), fourth in defensive rebounds per game (7.17), fifth in offensive rebounds per game (3.33), and second in double-doubles (3).
• Chansey Willis Jr. leads the Big Ten in steals (17) and steals per game (2.83), which also rank 16th and 20th nationally. As a team, the Gophers also rank second in the Big Ten in steals, averaging eight a game.

ABOUT THE CARDINAL
• Stanford opened the season with four-straight wins, but dropped its most recent game to Seattle U on Nov. 21 to drop to 4-1 on the season. The Cardinal opened the year with wins over Portland State, Montana, Montana State, and Louisiana before their 77-69 loss to the Redhawks. All five of those games have been on the Cardinals' Maple Pavilion. The Cardinal finished the 2024-25 season at 21-14 overall, marking its most victories since 2014-15.
• Four Stanford players average double-figure points, led by true freshman Ebuka Okorie with 23.8 points per game and tied for sixth nationally in scoring. Senior Chisom Okpara follows with 16.0 ppg, while seniors Benny Gealer and Aj Rohosy average 10.6 and 10, respectively. Rohosy also leads the team in rebounds (6 per game) and field goal percentage (.548).
• As a team, the Cardinal are averaging 83.8 points, while allowing 71.6. They are shooting 44.5 from the field and 32.2 from the arc. Stanford also averages 37.2 rebounds and has 43 steals.
