B1G Announces Phase 2 of Gophers Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS – The top-ranked Gopher men's hockey program will return to the ice in January as the Big Ten Conference announced Phase 2 of its 2020-21 schedule on Friday, adding the remaining 20 regular-season games to the calendar.Â
The Gophers opened the program's 100th campaign with a tremendous start, winning eight-straight games to kick things off for the first time since 1987-88 and earning a No. 1 ranking in both national polls for the first time since the 2014-15 season. Minnesota has not trailed in its first eight games.Â
Now the Maroon & Gold will look to continue that success in the second half with eight road games and 12 contests at 3M Arena at Mariucci.Â
At this time, there will be no ticket sales for Gopher men's hockey home games as Minnesota Department of Health guidelines specify that all entertainment venues are required to be closed to members of the public.
Big Ten hockey teams will follow the same medical protocols that were developed by the Big Ten Return to Competition Task Force and announced on Sept. 16, 2020, including daily antigen testing, enhanced cardiac screening and an enhanced data-driven approach when making decisions about practice/competition. Arizona State University has agreed to adhere to the same testing protocols as the Big Ten Conference.
Game times and television designations, as well as further details regarding the 2021 Big Ten Hockey Tournament, will be announced at a later date.
