MINNEAPOLIS – Four Minnesota skaters recorded multi-point games as the Gopher Hockey program took down No. 6 Ohio State 6-3 on Friday night at 3M Arena at Mariucci for the Maroon & Gold's highest offensive output of the season.
Â
Minnesota (9-10-4 overall, 4-5-4-3 Big Ten) was led by Brannon McManus with a goal and two assists while Sampo Ranta scored twice and both Sammy Walker and Jackson LaCombe tallied two assists each. Jonny Sorenson, Jaxon Nelson and Ben Meyers also tallied for the home team.Â
Jack LaFontaine made 21 saves in goal to pick up the win for Minnesota, improving to 5-6-3 on the season. Jack Nappier suffered the loss for Ohio State with 22 saves, falling to 12-6-2 on the year.Â
Minnesota outshot the Buckeyes 28-24 on the night while going 2-for-3 on the penalty kill and 0-for-1 on the power play.Â
Notable
Friday's 6-3 win for Minnesota breaks a streak of eight-straight games against the Buckeyes (and nine of the last 10) to end in either a tie or a one-goal game. The Gophers have now won four of their last five regular-season games and are unbeaten in five of their last six contests.Â

"We had a lot of guys scoring tonight…you get a couple goals and your confidence goes through the roof," Ranta said. "We just have to be ready to play tomorrow…go hard, win battles and do the same things we did tonight."Â
