Goligoski Skates in 500th NHL Game

MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) – Former Gophers All-American Alex Goligoski skated in his 500th NHL game on Thursday night in a 3-2 Dallas win over Washington.
The Grand Rapids, Minn., native is the 21st University of Minnesota alum to reach 500 games in the NHL.
A defenseman for the Stars, Goligoski has tallied 247 regular-season points (51 goals, 196 assists) in his nine NHL seasons. He’s also logged 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 21 career playoff games including a Stanley Cup victory with Pittsburgh in 2008-09 – his second year in the league.
As a Gopher, Goligoski earned All-WCHA distinction in each of his three years with the program (All-Rookie in 2004-05, Second Team in 2005-06, First Team in 2006-07). In 118 career games with the Maroon & Gold, he totaled 98 points (25 goals, 73 assists).
An alternate captain, Goligoski was named a First Team All-American in his final year with the Pride on Ice after helping the team sweep the WCHA regular-season (MacNaughton Cup) and playoff (Broadmoor Trophy) titles in 2006-07.
