Gophers Remain Among Top Three in Hockey Polls

12/1/2008 12:00:00 AM | Men's Hockey

Minnesota dropped out of the No. 1 spot, but still remains ranked among the nation’s top three teams in the latest men’s hockey national polls.

The Gophers, who lost to Michigan 6-3 and tied Michigan State 4-4 over the weekend, are ranked second in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine national poll and fell to third in the U.S. College Hockey Online/CBS College Sports rankings. Minnesota received first place votes in each poll and is currently 7-2-5 overall.

Notre Dame is the top-ranked team in both polls and Boston College edged Minnesota by five votes for No. 2 in the USCHO/CBS poll.

The Gophers have a week off before a showdown with Colorado College on Dec. 13-14. The Tigers are ranked fifth in both of this week’s polls.
