Jacob LeRoy enters his sixth season with the Minnesota men's hockey program in 2026-27, serving as Director of Hockey Operations after joining the team in August 2021, and begins his first year on Head Coach Brett Larson's staff.
Â
A key member of the program's leadership team, LeRoy oversees the Golden Gophers' video operations, managing film breakdown, opponent scouting, video sessions, in-game technical support, and analytical preparation that supports the team's on-ice development. He also directs the day-to-day operational logistics of the program, coordinating team travel, meals, scheduling, and overall team operations.
Â
LeRoy has recently expanded his responsibilities, taking on a larger role in roster construction and program management. He now assists with scholarship planning, roster organization, and personnel management, helping guide the long-term structure and sustainability of the program while supporting the staff's recruiting and roster strategy.
Â
Since joining the program, LeRoy has helped Minnesota capture three Big Ten Conference championships, including back-to-back regular season titles during his first two seasons on staff. The Gophers' historic 2022-23 campaign saw Minnesota win a program-record 19 conference games while totaling 57 points, both of which remain B1G records. During his tenure, Minnesota has advanced to four NCAA Tournaments, reached consecutive NCAA Frozen Fours, and played in the 2023 NCAA National Championship game.
Â
LeRoy's growing reputation earned him an opportunity on the international stage during the 2025-26 season when he served as video coach for USA Hockey at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship. He joined Bob Motzko's staff for the event, which was hosted in Minneapolis at 3M Arena at Mariucci and in St. Paul at Grand Casino Arena.
Â
Before arriving at Minnesota, LeRoy spent four seasons at Ohio State as a student assistant in hockey operations. During his tenure, the Buckeyes made two NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's second-ever NCAA Frozen Four berth in 2018, while also winning the 2019 Big Ten regular season title, the program's first league championship. In recognition of his contributions, LeRoy earned a varsity letter.
Â
A native of Dublin, Ohio, LeRoy graduated from The Ohio State University in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in business administration, specializing in finance.
