- Attended Hastings High School where he was a four-time state placewinner, highlighted by a Class AAA state championship at 106 pounds as a freshman
- Finished with a prep career record of 246-14
- Was a state finalist at 133 pounds as both a senior and junior after placing sixth at 127 pounds as a sophomore; also a state qualifier at 113 pounds as an eighth-grader
- Helped the Raiders to a team state title in 2023
- Parents are Chad and Becky
- Has two siblings: Blake, a junior on the Gophers wrestling team, and Ellie
