- Finished as runner-up at the Jim Koch Open with a 3-1 record; loss was by injury default in the finals
- Went 2-2 at the Daktronics Open
- Made collegiate debut by placing fourth at the Bison Open with a 2-2 record
- Attended Cumberland High School in Cumberland, Wis., where he was a four-time state champion (one of 29 in Wisconsin history to win four individual state titles)
- Finished his high school career with a record of 182-3
- Won the DIII 138-pound title to cap an undefeated senior season at 58-0.
