2024 • FRESHMAN SEASON:
Swenson will enroll at Minnesota in January of 2024 for her first season as a Gopher.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB:
A 6-foot-3 outside and opposite out of Minnetonka, Minn. (Wayzata H.S.), Olivia continues the Swenson sister pipeline to the University of Minnesota • her accolades include four all-conference selections, two all-state and all-metro nods and four All-Metro West CCX Team honors • Swenson has helped her team to three straight Minnesota State High School Class AAAA titles (sophomore through senior years) • a 2022 MSHSL State Volleyball All-Tournament Team selection, Swenson has helped Wayzata to be ranked No. 7 and No. 8 in the country, respectively, in junior and senior years • a 2023 Ms. Baden Award Finalist, Olivia was named Star Tribune Prep Athlete of the Week two times and was named to Volleyball Magazine Dream Team • she is ranked as the No. 36 player in the country according to Prep Volleyball • in club, Olivia helped Minnesota Select to a National Runner-Up finish at the 17-Open (USA GJNCs) in 2023 and a third place finish at the 14-Open in 2021.
PERSONAL:
The daughter of Erik Swenson and Vicki Seliger Swenson, she's joined in her family by older sister Samantha Seliger Swenson and brother-in-law Eric Loeppky in addition to her twin sister Stella (older by 21 minutes) and younger sister Eva • her dad, Erik, played football for the University of North Dakota • her, mom, Vicki, played volleyball for Iowa State University • her older sister Samantha played volleyball for University of Minnesota and was one of two four-time All-Americans in program history • academically, Olivia was a member of Wayzata High School's honor roll • she intends to major in psychology at Minnesota.
WHY MINNESOTA:
"It has always been my dream to play volleyball at the University of Minnesota. I grew up attending matches and watching my older sister play. The fans are amazing and the Pav has such a fun atmosphere. As soon as I met Coach Cook and his staff, I knew this is where I wanted to stay. I am thankful to represent my home state and play in front of my family and friends. I can't wait to get to Minnesota in January and start training with my teammates."
GOALS:
"I want to be challenged and grow as a person as well as a student-athlete at the University of Minnesota. My goal is to win Big Ten titles and ultimately a national championship."
