2025 Outdoor Track & Field • Redshirt Sophomore Season: Earned a spot on the Academic All-Big Ten team... Returned from injury to open his outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays where he finished the 5000m in a time of 14:54.83... Ran an outdoor lifetime best 5000m at the Drake Relays in a time of 14:28.16 to finish eighth overall.. Ended his outdoor season at Hamline's 'Meet of the UnSaintly' in the 5000m where he was 12th in a time of 14:45.74.
2024 Cross Country • Redshirt Sophomore Season: Named to the Academic All-Big Ten team... Missed the second half of the season due to injury... Aided Minnesota's third-place team finish at the Roy Griak Invitational, the best since 2018... Was 17th overall at the Roy Griak Invitational in an 8K lifetime best time of 25:28.2... Opened the season at the Oz Memorial in a 5K time of 16:07.2 to finish third overall... Ended his cross country season at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals meet, running an 8K time of 25:32.5.
2024 Outdoor Track & Field • Redshirt Freshman Season: Named to the Academic All-Big Ten team... Returned from injury officially at the Hurricane Invitational where he was 12th overall in the 1500m in a time of 3:57.33... Ran the 10000m at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, finishing 19th overall in a time of 30:24.82... Clocked a 14:36.19 in the 5000m at the Gary Wilson Invitational... Also ran at the Bryan Clay Invitational and at the Raleigh Relays.
2023 Cross Country • Redshirt Freshman Season: Named to the Academic All-Big Ten team...Finished as Minnesota's top runner in each of his first two competitions... Was seventh overall at the Oz Memorial to start the season in a 5K time of 15:58.44... Was fourth overall at the Badger Classic in an 8K time of 24:30.2... Helped Minnesota win the Badger Classic as a team which led to the team being named the NCAA Team of the Week... His fourth-place finish in Madison was the best finish for a Gopher man away from home since 2019 (Alec Basten)... Missed the remainder of the cross country season with injuries.
2023 Outdoor Track and Field • Freshman Season: Redshirted during his first season at the University of Minnesota.
2022 Cross Country • Freshman Season: Redshirted during his first season at the University of Minnesota.
HIGH SCHOOL: Signing with the Gophers out of the Badger state is Shane Griepentrog of Valders High School... A talented distance runner on and off the track, Griepentrog won two more state titles this past season in the 3200m and the 1600m at the Division 2 level... His 3200m title was his second straight and his 1600m title improved on his runner-up finish from the year prior... He was also a cross country state champion, notably finishing his senior cross country season undefeated... Was a member of the National Honor Society ini high school... Was All-Conference in cross country from 2018-21... Was All-State in cross country from 2019-21... Helped his team win three state titles in high school, coming in his freshman season, sophomore season and senior season with a fourth-place finish during his junior season.
PERSONAL: Plans on majoring in Nutrition... Son of Dan and Susan... Has one sibling, Nate... Brother Nate currently runs at UW-Milwaukee... Played basketball all four years of high school... Chose the University of Minnesota because of the Big City atmosphere and that it is still close to home.
