Wucherer Garners Second Big Ten Player of the Week Honors

The Big Ten Conference office has announced that fifth year Mckenna Wucherer (Brookfield, Wis.) has been named Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time this season. She also received the award on Sept. 7.
Wucherer, a 6-foot, 1-inch outside hitter, produced back-to-back career-high kill nights last weekend when she had 25 in both matches during the SD Lottery Challenge. On Friday, Wucherer broke her previous best of 21, which she had held three times in her career, two of which came this season. Along with her 25 kills, Wucherer also established a career-best 15 digs. On the night, she hit .417 (25-5-48). Wucherer had 29 of Minnesota's 78 points. She followed that performance with another 25-kill performance and hit .413. She also completed her second double-double in as many days when she had 11 digs. She provided 27 points in the win. On the weekend, the fifth-year had 50 kills, averaged 6.25 kills per set, hit .415, added four aces, 26 digs and four blocks. She scored 56 points over two days. Wucherer has already reached 146 kills in eight matches into the 2026 campaign.
Minnesota opens Big Ten play this week when it travels to Illinois on Thursday at 7 p.m., and hosts No. 23 Oregon on Saturday at 6 p.m. Both matches are streamed on B1G+.
