3/24/2026 10:55:00 AM | Men's Basketball
University of Minnesota men's basketball athletes Grayson Grove (Alexandria, Minn.) and Cade Tyson (Monroe, N.C.) have been named Academic All-District, announced today by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Both sports management majors, it marks the first honor for each.
Grove, a redshirt freshman forward, has started 11 games for the Golden Gophers and averages 20.6 minutes per game. Initially coming off the bench, Grove moved into a starting role for the season's final eight games, averaging 35.9 minutes and setting career highs in points (13), rebounds (8), and assists (8) in a single game. He averaged 6.4 points during that span and finished the season with averages of 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds as a rookie.
Tyson, a senior guard/forward, leads the Golden Gophers in points (609), points per game (19.6), field goals (184), free throws (171) and attempts (207) this season. His 19.6 points per game rank sixth in the Big Ten in overall scoring, while his 609 points are seventh in the league. Tyson's 609 points this season rank seventh in school history for points in a season. His 609 points in a single season crushes his previous season best of 503 when he was at Belmont in the 2023-24 season.
Minnesota is set to compete in the College Basketball Crown on April 1 in Las Vegas. The Gophers face Baylor at 9:30 p.m. The game will be televised on FS1, while Mike Grimm and Al Nolen provide the radio broadcast on KFAN 100.3 FM.
