Gophers Head to USF Alumni Invitational

Both the women's and men's team will compete at USF Friday and Saturday
TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of Minnesota men's and women's track and field teams head to the USF Alumni Invitational at the University of South Florida on Friday and Saturday. The two-day meet will take place in side the USF Track & Field Stadium.
ABOUT THE USF ALUMNI INVITATIONAL
The USF Alumni Invitational begins at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT tomorrow with the men's javelin throw inside USF Track & Field Stadium. The first women's field event will be the pole vault beginning at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT. Track events begin at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT with the women's 400 meter hurdles. Full Schedule. MEN'S OPEN OUTDOOR SEASON LAST WEEKEND
Minnesota will head to the Raleigh Relays next Thursday, March 26-Saturday, March 28 at NC State.

MEN'S OPEN OUTDOOR SEASON LAST WEEKEND
- Anthony Barmes led the way on Friday in the men's hammer throw while John Caleb stole the show on the track on Saturday to help the Maroon and Gold secure 11 collegiate victories over the two-day competition in Long Beach, Calif.
- In the field both Charles Godfred and Hakeem Ford picked up wins in their respective jumping events. Godfred, a two-time Big Ten champion, needed just three attempts to secure his win with a final mark of 7.62m (25-0).
- The lone relay win in Long Beach for the 'U' came in the final event of the weekend, the men's 4x400m relay. The quartet of Joe Manser, Max McQuide Ahmed Khadar and Ramy Ayoub combined to stop the clock in 3:07.80 to easily win the meet by nearly four seconds over Maryland (3:11.58).
- Other notable individual wins for Minnesota included: Nolan Sutter's lifetime best 9:05.37 in the 3000m steeplechase, Emmett Gerres' 1500m win in 3:47.79, Ramy Ayoub's winning time of 47.11 in the men's 400m and Tony Nelson's lifetime best of 17.58m (57-8 1/4) won the shot put.
- The final day of NCAA Championships competition saw three Gophers – Zoie Dundon (First Team), Diarra Sow (Second Team) and Anthonett Nabwe (Second Team) - earn All-American accolades. As a team, Minnesota finished tied for 17th with 13 points. It was the Gophers best finish since they tied for 14th in 2018 with 14 points.
- It was the second All-America recognition for Nabwe at the event. On Friday, Nabwe was crowned a national champion in the weight throw after a toss of 25.13 meters (82-5.5 feet). The mark set a new personal-best and ranked as the third best throw in NCAA history. It was also the tenth best performance in world history.
- Dundon finished sixth in the 800m with a personal best time and school record mark of 2:01.42. She ran a 2:02.51 in the prelims on Friday and entered the event seeded 12th. Dundon was the first Gopher to qualify for the 800m since 2014 when Alena Brooks finished seventh.
- Nabwe, fresh of her national title in the weight throw, finished tenth in the shot put with a heave of 17.38m (57-1/4) to set a new season-best mark. Her previous was 17.36m (56-11 1/2) from the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships.
- Sow was the lone Minnesota jumper at the championship, and she was the first Gopher to compete in the event in 23 years when Shani Marks finished sixth in 2003. Sow finished 14 with a mark of 12.79m (41-11½).
