Tyson Named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention; Durkin Sportsmanship Award

University of Minnesota men's basketball senior Cade Tyson (Monroe, N.C.) has been named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention by both the coaches and media, announced today by the conference office. Bobby Durkin (Darien, Ill.) received Minnesota's Sportsmanship Award.
Tyson leads the Golden Gophers in points (585), points per game (19.5), field goals (175), free throws (168) and attempts (204) this season. His 19.5 points per game rank sixth in the Big Ten in overall scoring, as do his 585 points. Tyson's 585 points this season rank 12th in school history for points in a season. His 19.5 ppg currently ranks in the top five in school history since 1978-79. In Big Ten action alone, Tyson averaged 17.5 points. On the season, Tyson has produced two 30-point games in his senior year, 14 20-point games and has scored double-figure points in each of his 30 games played. Tyson reached his 1,000th career point in the first game of the season and now sits at 1,578 points, with 517 career rebounds. He also tied a school record for three-pointers in a game when he had eight earlier this year against Texas Southern.

He has scored 316 points this season and now sits at 1,033 career points.
