Murphy Named Hockey Commissioners Association Forward of the Month

MINNEAPOLIS ā University of Minnesota graduate student Abbey Murphy has been named the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) Forward of the Month for January, the organization announced Thursday. Murphy earns the honor for the second time this season from the HCA.
Murphy enjoyed a dominant January, recording 27 points on 16 goals and 11 assists with a +16 rating over eight games. The Evergreen Park, Ill., native scored in every contest during the month and produced three hat tricks, including back-to-back performances against Sacred Heart and Minnesota State. She also set a new career high with four goals against Bemidji State on Jan. 17 and tied the Minnesota single-game points record with seven points versus Sacred Heart on Jan. 3.
The two-time Olympian continued to climb the program record book, moving into second all-time in program history in points and tying for first with 140 career goals. Murphy is slated to represent the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, marking her second Olympic appearance.
The Gophers return to action Feb. 6ā7 with a home-and-home series against St. Thomas. Game one is set for noon CT Friday at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena in St. Paul, with game two scheduled for 2 p.m. CT Saturday at Ridder Arena. Both games will stream on B1G+, with Friday's matchup also airing on FOX9+.
