MINNEAPOLIS- The University of Minnesota tennis team split action at the Michigan State Classic, held in East Lansing, Mich, and ITA Central Sectional Championship, in Fort Worth, Texas. Minnesota had six student-athletes compete in the Michigan event, while Massiva Boukirat competed in Fort Worth.

The University of Minnesota tennis team competed in day one of the Michigan State Classic on Friday going 3-0 in doubles and 1-5 in singles.
In doubles play, Jeselle Ante and Leina Gao opened with a 6-2 win over Ball State individuals, Noa Maj Kosman and Priyanka Rana. Ksenia Hanke and Anali Kocevar defeated University of Illinois-Chicago's Edit Cosmo and Dongke Liu 6-2. Kamea Medora and Anlin Xie later earned a 6-3 victory over University of Illinois-Chicago's Charlotte Deletioglu and Marta Halbersztadt.
In singles play, Gao opened singles action with a 0-6, 0-6 loss over Eastern Michigan University's Maria Batinic. Kocevar defeated Michigan State University's Amiya Bowles due to withdrawal from injury, while Hanke lost to Esther Vyrlan from Notre Dame 3-6, 2-6. Medora lost to Ball State's Anya Tkachyk 1-6, 3-6. Ante lost 2-6, 6-1, 6-7(6-8) to Michigan State's Lu Mengqiao. Xie ended day one with a 5-7, 7-6, 3-6 loss over Michigan State's Ellie Blackford.
