Big Ten Announces Gopher Men's Basketball League Schedule

The Big Ten Conference has announced the University of Minnesota men's basketball's 20-game Big Ten schedule today, which features 10 games at Williams Arena and another 10 in road competition. Start times and network designations for all conference and nonconference games will be announced at the end of September. 
Minnesota's nonconference schedule was announced earlier this year. Seven additional games will make up 17 contests at Williams Arena this upcoming season. Two exhibition games have also been scheduled for October 16 and October 25 vs. North Dakota State and North Dakota. The NDSU game will have a 7 p.m. start, while the Oct. 25 game against UND will begin at 2 p.m.Â
Now in its ninth-straight year, the Big Ten plays two conference games at the start of December and resumes Big Ten play in the next calendar year. Minnesota opens the league slate on December 3 when it hosts Indiana before traveling to compete at Purdue on December 10.Â
Minnesota opens 2026 at Northwestern on January 3 before coming home for three straight contests. The Gophers host the Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday, January 6, the Southern California Trojans on Friday, January 9 and the Wisconsin Badgers on Tuesday, January 13.Â
The Gophers hit the road for a pair of contests at Illinois (January 17) and at Ohio State (January 20) before returning to Williams Arena confines on January 24 vs. Nebraska. Minnesota closes out the month of January in Madison, Wis., as the Gophers play at Wisconsin on January 28.Â
Minnesota plays at Penn State on Feb.1 before hosting Michigan State on Wednesday, February 4. The Gophers also welcome the Maryland Terrapins to the Barn on Sunday, February 8. The Gophers are off midweek as they prepare for their trip to the West Coast, where they visit Washington (February 14) and Oregon (February 17) this year. The Gophers then host Rutgers on February 21 before going on the road to Michigan on February 24. The 'U' closes out February with a home contest vs. UCLA on February 28.Â
Minnesota closes out the road season on Wednesday, March 4, to face the Indiana Hoosiers. Minnesota finishes the regular season at home against Northwestern on March 7.
The 29th Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament will be played March 10-15, 2026, at the United Center in Chicago, marking the first Big Ten Tournament to feature an 18-team field.
The tournament will open on Tuesday, March 10 with a pair of games featuring the number 15-18 seeds. Wednesday's schedule will include four contests, as Tuesday's winners will join seeds 9-14 in second round action.

Seeds 5-8 will begin tournament play on Thursday, with the top four seeds slated to open their postseasons in Friday's quarterfinal round. The semifinal contests are scheduled for Saturday, with a champion crowned following Sunday's title game. CBS Sports will broadcast the semifinals and championship game on CBS for the 29th consecutive year, with those games also streaming live on Paramount+.
Gopher season tickets are available now. Single-game tickets and mini-plans for the upcoming season will be available to season ticketholders and Gopher Score members on September 23, and will be open to the public on Thursday, September 25.
