Gophers open B1G play Oct. 30

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference released its 24-game league schedule for the 2025-26 men's hockey season Friday. Game times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

B1G play once again features a double-round-robin format where each team plays both a home and an away series with the other six conference members for a total of 12 home and 12 away matchups.

Coming off four-straight weekends of non-conference action to begin the year, the Golden Gophers start league play with a rare Thursday and Saturday series on the road Oct. 30 and Nov. 1. Minnesota continues its long-standing Border Battle against the Badgers of Wisconsin at Kohl Center to kick off B1G competition.

The Maroon and Gold return to Dinkytown for what will be a six-game homestand inside 3M Arena at Mariucci, starting Nov. 7-8 versus Notre Dame. After a non-conference series with Long Island, the stretch on home ice continues Nov. 21-22 as the Gophers face Penn State, a team that reached the NCAA Frozen Four a season ago.

Slated to play just one series in the month of December, Minnesota makes the trek to Columbus, Ohio, for a matchup at Ohio State Dec. 4-5, which will end the first half of the campaign.

As the Maroon and Gold usher in the 2026 calendar year, the action picks up away from campus as the team takes its longest trip of the season, traveling to Penn State Jan. 9-10. The Gophers return home for a series with Michigan Jan. 16-17 before getting back on the road Jan. 23-24 to face defending conference co-champion Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich.

Minnesota will be at home for its next two weekends as the second half of the Border Battle with Wisconsin commences Jan. 30-31 before the Buckeyes from Ohio State come to town Feb. 6-7.

A late-season, four-game road swing will test the Gophers down the stretch as they take on the Fighting Irish at Compton Family Ice Arena Feb. 13-14. After a bye week, the final series away from campus is scheduled for Feb. 26-27 at Michigan.

The regular season ends Mar. 5-6 when Minnesota hosts Michigan State at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

The postseason features a new format for 2026 as it shifts to a two-week, single-elimination tournament with all games played on campus. The B1G Tournament quarterfinals will be held on Mar. 11 when the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 seeded teams host the No. 7, No. 6, and No. 5 seeds, respectively. The No. 1 seed gains a bye into the semifinals.

The semifinals are scheduled for Mar. 14, hosted by the No. 1 seed and the highest advancing seed from the quarterfinals. The championship game will be played on the weekend of Mar. 20-21 and hosted by the highest remaining seed.

Season tickets for Minnesota men's hockey in 2025-26 are now on sale at GopherSports.com, while single game, group, and mini plan tickets will be available for the general public starting Sept. 4.
