MINNEAPOLIS - Mara Braun has been invited to participate in the 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team Trials, announced by USA Basketball on Monday. The trials are set to begin June 17 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Players were selected by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee.

"We are very excited for Mara to have this opportunity ahead of her!" said head coach Dawn Plitzuweit. "Mara has continued to grow and excel, it's great that she will be challenged by playing with and against the best of the best! Mara is one of the elite guards in the nation and her experience of competing in the Big Ten and with USA 3x3 has prepared her well. We look forward to seeing her represent the United States and the University of Minnesota!"

Braun, a guard from Wayzata, Minn., is one of 21 collegiate standouts expected to try out for the team, which will represent the U.S. at the FIBA Women's AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile from June 28-July 6. Braun has experience with USA Basketball's 3x3 program, winning gold at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Nations League Final.

"I'm incredibly honored and excited to be invited to the 2025 USA AmeriCup Trials," said Braun. "Having another opportunity to represent my country and compete alongside so many talented athletes is a dream come true. I'm ready to work hard and grow through this experience."

Kara Lawson (Duke University) will serve as head coach with assistant coaches DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion University) and Jennie Baranczyk (University of Oklahoma). They will be assisted by coaches Jim Flanery (Creighton University) and Robyn Fralick (Michigan State University) at trials.

The 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team will open Group B with host nation Chile, followed by Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The full schedule is available here. The winner of the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup will earn a berth to the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, set to be held in Berlin next summer.

Since the event's inception in 1993, the United States has captured four AmeriCup gold medals, including titles in 2019 and 2021.
